A historic caboose, now on Imperial Highway at Eureka Avenue, will be moved to Lemon Drive near Polly’s Pies. The City Council on Tuesday voted 3 to 1 to follow the planning commission’s recommendation to relocate the caboose to make way for the widening of Imperial Highway.
Councilman Henry W. Wedaa, who cast a no vote on the issue, said he wanted the caboose to be in a park setting where children could enjoy getting into the old rail car.
The other council members said they did not envision such a use for the caboose.
They said it is meant to be more of a display than a plaything. The caboose will most likely be moved once again after the Old Towne area is redesigned.
