The City Council proclaimed April as Earthquake Preparedness Month. Fire Chief Bernard F. Heimos, along with the city, is encouraging residents to gather the necessary materials in case of an earthquake. Residents should have enough food, water and clothing for 72 hours, Heimos said.
In the event of an earthquake, the city has a plan that will begin before the earth stops shaking, he said. For more information on earthquake preparedness, call the Fountain Valley Fire Department at (714) 593-4436.
