Two adults and a juvenile will face charges in connection with the December beating of 19-year-old Laguna Hills resident Kristopher Lerum that shattered bones in the college student’s face, nearly costing him his eyesight.
Lerum was beaten Dec. 28 outside a large party in the neighborhood of Nellie Gail.
Officers made the arrests late last month after tracking down 150 witnesses and interviewing them over a three-month period, said Sheriff’s Department Sgt. John Smiertelny, who supervised the investigation.
Nathan M. Cooper, 19, of Aliso Viejo was charged with assault with a deadly weapon--his hands and feet. Joshua R. Jarrett, 19, of Lake Forest was charged with assault likely to produce great bodily injury. Bail was set at $50,000 for each one.
No information on the juvenile was released by police officials.
