NORTH HILLS — Police arrested a man Thursday in connection with the death of his live-in girlfriend’s 2-year-old son.
Christopher Hihn was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, LAPD Officer Jason Lee said.
According to authorities, Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded about 1 a.m. to a call of a child having trouble breathing. Paramedics found the boy, Randy Paul Bowman, at an apartment in the 8100 block of Langdon Avenue.
Police said the child was unconscious and had several bruises on his head and body. He was transported to Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, where he was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m., according to authorities.
The victim’s mother, Christina Lee Bowman, 23, left the child with her live-in boyfriend before going to work, Lee said. The mother told police her son was in good health when she left him with Hihn, Lee said.
