Poly 28, L.A. Marshall 20--David Valencia rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns in 34 carries, and caught a touchdown pass for the Parrots at Poly.
Poly jumped to a 21-0 lead and hung onfor the victory.
Valencia scored on runs of eight, one and seven yards in the first half.
He caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Zachary Jones-Sims to increase Poly’s lead to 28-14 late in the third quarter.
Jones-Sims completed four of five passes for 80 yards and Salvador Zarate caught three passes for 40 yards for Poly (2-2), which led 21-7 at halftime.
David Martinez of Marshall (1-3) threw a three-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to John Spears and scored on a four-yard run in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 28-20 with 2:57 to play.
The Barristers attempted an onside kick, but a Marshall player touched the ball before it went 10 yards, and Poly was awarded the ball at Marshall’s 45.
