LOS ANGELES — A former Allstate claims adjuster was sentenced Monday to 34 months in federal prison for embezzling from the insurance company after the Northridge earthquake.
Ronnie F. Eubanks, 51, of White Bear, Minn. was accused of taking $275,000 in kickbacks from a construction firm operator in return for approving work that was not done or that was billed to Allstate at inflated prices.
Assistant U.S. Atty. Gregory Weingart said Eubanks used some of the money to buy into a San Luis Obispo restaurant and to purchase a membership in a Palm Springs country club.
Eubanks was also convicted of failing to file federal tax returns for 1994, 1995 and 1996, evading payment of more than $92,000.
