UCI Goes on Defensive for First Win

UC Irvine held Northern Arizona to 19 second-half points and posted its first victory this season, 59-50, in a nonconference game at Northern Arizona Sunday.
Megan Stafford scored 19 points and Jeanine Horton made both of her three-point shots and finished with 12 points for the Anteaters (1-1).
Irvine, which shot 34% from the field, trailed at halftime, 31-29.
Kristi Forman scored 13 points and Bridjette Wickham had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Northern Arizona (0-1).
Irvine plays Texas San Antonio Friday at the Bren Center at 7 p.m.
In another nonconference game:
Loyola Marymount 80, CS Fullerton 51--Bryn Britton scored 19 points and Dana Hunter had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the host Lions (1-0).
Nieshia Cleveland had 15 points for the Titans (0-1), who committed 39 turnovers. Erin Whiteside added 10 points for Fullerton.
