Man Crossing Street Is Killed

A 42-year-old walking his bike across a dark, busy street in Los Alamitos was struck and killed, police said Sunday.
The traffic accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 4100 block of Katella Avenue, said Los Alamitos police dispatcher Chet Corbin. The victim, identified as Anaheim resident Jerry Blanco, was taken to Los Alamitos Medical Center, where he died.
The victim was not in a crosswalk when he was hit, Corbin said. The driver was a Huntington Beach resident who was on his way to the airport at the time of the accident. The motorist was questioned but not cited.
