Small Rise in Indonesia Quarterly GDP Likely

Indonesia’s economy probably expanded for a second straight quarter during the July-September period, the country’s Central Statistics Bureau is expected to report today. Last week, a bureau official said the country’s gross domestic product grew less than 1% during the third quarter compared with the previous three months. Indonesia is trying to extract itself from its worst recession in decades, which saw its economy shrink about 13.7% last year as the rupiah tumbled and inflation soared. Growth resumed in the second quarter of this year, aided by a widening trade surplus and recovering consumer spending.
