Seller of Gun in School Shootings Gets 6-Year Term

GOLDEN, Colo. — A 22-year-old man who admitted selling an assault weapon and ammunition to the teen gunmen who killed 13 people during the Columbine High School massacre in April was sentenced Friday to six years in prison, as relatives of the victims applauded.

Jefferson County Judge Henry Nieto sentenced Mark Manes after hearing transcripts of videotapes made by gunmen Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris thanking Manes for his help in obtaining a TEC-DC9 semiautomatic weapon used in the blood bath.

Harris and Klebold killed 12 classmates and one teacher during the April 20 attack before taking their own lives.

Manes, who pleaded guilty to providing a minor with a handgun and handling a sawed-off shotgun, expressed his sadness over the attack and appeared stunned as Nieto imposed his sentence.
