SAN FERNANDO — A North Hills couple was sentenced to four years and eight months in state prison Wednesday for beating the woman’s 3-year-old son and locking him in a bathroom without lights or water for a couple of days, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Elva Stella Huicho, 28, and her husband, Octavio Alberto Huicho, 23, pleaded no contest Wednesday in San Fernando Superior Court to charges of child abuse and false imprisonment by violence, said Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
The boy, who lived at the Huichos’ home in the 8900 block of Burnet Avenue, “was forced to kneel over feces and urine was poured over his head,” Gibbons said.
The couple was arrested Aug. 22 after a neighbor told police about the abuse. The boy is now in foster care, Gibbons added.
