An Uphill Struggle to Keep the Years at Bay

Gary Null may want to keep the listener from aging quickly, but one could die of boredom if strictly adhering to his program. Null admits upfront that his anti-aging regimen has a very high failure rate, as it is extremely difficult to follow. He promises amazing results, but his methods take immense willpower. And frankly, I think they tend toward the paranoid. He lost me upon the suggestion that people touch everything in their bathroom with a paper towel or tissue to avoid germs.
There may be validity to his ideas, but it is not practical for the average person to cook only with organic foods, drink only distilled water, and ingest handfuls of supplements. Most of us don’t have the time and many cannot afford the expense.
The printed book, though rather bloated with testimonials, is a decent resource, as Null includes an extensive chapter of notes and recommends books and health care regimes for specific health issues. The audio has some of this material, but more than half has been lost through abridgment.
What is useful about this audio is the information he supplies regarding vitamins, enzymes, supplements and food. Because he includes the historical and sometimes cultural significance of a food or an herb, the list is more interesting than you would expect. However, his organization is sloppy and he seems to recommend everything without constraint, yet is not specific as to amounts or dosages.
Null is not the most dynamic of narrators and his pronunciation is sometimes off. He’s rather dull and speaks in a monotone, though not quite a full-blown drone. The editing is slack, which sounds even worse when heard aloud than read. Sentences such as “All fats are not created equal” will make English majors everywhere want to scream.
