Movie Attendance

* Re “Adults Less Likely to Go to the Movies,” March 14: There could be another reason for their lackluster attendance that (added to high prices and films replete with obligatory, gratuitous sex, violence and enough flashing lights to guarantee seizures) has been overlooked.
As soon as the house lights are lowered, viewers are subjected to a 15- or 20-minute barrage of ads and coming-attraction trailers, all at an unbearably high decibel level. This affront has been going on for years; naturally, management refuses to lower the sound.
We “oldies” don’t mind waiting a few years to see a good film on TV. At least we can control the volume of the commercials.
