The City Council recently approved a new General Plan, a comprehensive document that details a long-term vision for the city’s development. It had been at least 15 years since sections of the previous plan were updated, City Manager Daniel E. Keen said; state law requires more frequent updating.
The plan doesn’t represent a radical change, but ties zoning, code enforcement and other issues together in a much clearer way, Keen said. It also creates a noise ordinance, which the city has never had. The document, compiled over 18 months with help from a private consultant, cost $100,000.
