PIONEERTOWN — A suspect has been arrested in the disappearance of a 29-year-old Whittier man nearly nine years ago, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced.
The victim, Charles McLemore, was reported missing by his wife in 1990. Four years later, a human skull with bullet holes was found in Pioneertown, near Yucca Valley, and last December, state forensics experts identified the remains as those of McLemore.
Homicide detectives from San Bernardino County and Whittier renewed their investigation, leading to the arrest of Larry White, 32, of Las Vegas. He is expected to be extradited to San Bernardino County, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Lenihan.
The killing is believed to be drug-related, he said.
