Visitors to the Irvine Spectrum entertainment center no longer need to wonder what the parking lot construction entails. The construction, which has taken up more than 500 spaces, consists of the installation of underground utilities that set the center up for its third phase, an Irvine Co. official said. A new parking lot, which opened late last year, increased capacity by 2,100 spaces. But the recent construction meant fewer spaces were available.
