Saturday at Santa Barbara College, Ruvolo became the Titans’ first 7-foot high jumper. Ruvolo’s jump broke the school record of 6 feet 10 inches set by Zaylore Stout in 1995 and tied by Dominick Sturz last season.
THIS WEEK
Men’s basketball: The Titans (13-13) play Boise State (19-7) in the opening round of the Big West Conference postseason tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday in Reno. Boise State won the only regular-season meeting of the teams, 67-66, in Boise.
Baseball: The Titans (10-5), who lost two of three games at Alabama last weekend, play a three-game series this weekend at home against Houston. The Friday and Saturday games begin at 7 p.m., with the Sunday game at noon. It will be the final weekend series against a nonconference opponent before Big West play begins March 12.
Softball: The Titans (7-5) host the Easton Showcase tournament Friday through Sunday. Play begins at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. Fullerton plays Illinois State at 4 p.m. and Portland State at 6 p.m. Friday.
Women’s gymnastics: The Titans (2-8) will compete Friday at UC Santa Barbara against the host team, UC Davis, Sacramento State and Western Michigan.
Men’s and women’s track: Fullerton will compete in a meet beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at USC against the host team, Cal State Bakersfield, California, Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly Pomona and San Diego State.
Fencing: The Titans will compete in the NCAA Western Regional Saturday and Sunday at Stanford.
