“Tarzan” is a new animated version of the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs tale from Disney featuring the voices of Tony Goldwyn, Glenn Close, Rosie O’Donnell, Minnie Driver and Nigel Hawthorne. It opens Wednesday at the El Capitan and Friday in general release.

Music

Opening a seventh season of summer concerts at the Ford Amphitheatre, pianist Jeffrey Kahane and the five-member Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Winds play a program of French music climaxing on the Sextet by Francis Poulenc, today at 11 a.m. The Winds are David Shostac, Allan Vogel, Gary Bovyer, Kenneth Munday and Richard Todd. “Brunchtime Classics” continues next Sunday and June 27.

Theater

La Jolla Playhouse presents Joe Orton’s wicked farce “Loot,” revolving around a coffin filled with ill-gotten gain, bumbling thieves, a corpse in the closet, a predatory nurse and a mysterious detective. Neel Keller will direct the macabre comedy. Opens today at Mandell Weiss Forum.

Art

“An Artist’s Life in Renaissance Rome: The Early Career of Taddeo Zuccaro,” an exhibition of drawings by Federico Zuccaro, which narrates his brother’s artistic struggles and triumphs, opens Tuesday at the Getty Center.

Jazz

Les McCann has been a leader in funky soul jazz for years, featuring his highly influential piano solos and expressive vocals. At the Jazz Bakery for five nights starting Tuesday, McCann leads his Magic Band, a quintet that includes saxophonist Keith Anderson and guitarist David Zeiher.

Pop Music

Summer doesn’t really start in the Southland anymore until KROQ-FM puts on its annual Weenie Roast concert. This year’s edition, on Saturday at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, features the usual who’s who of modern rock, headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica. Other acts include Smash Mouth, Blink-182, Live and Orgy.

Video

Jane Horrocks shines in the British comedy “Little Voice,” as a painfully shy woman who does imitations singers such as Judy Garland. Michael Caine won a Golden Globe as a sleazy agent; Brenda Blethyn received an Oscar nomination as her obnoxious mother. The import arrives Tuesday on video shelves.
