Residents who want to impact the lives of disadvantaged children are invited to join the city’s Secret Pals program. Now in its eighth year, the program provides children with an alternative to hanging out on the streets. The children get to participate in activities that they might not otherwise be able to afford, such as swimming lessons, said Rosemary Castro, Secret Pal program coordinator. Last year, the program provided recreational, cultural and social opportunities for 88 children. Individuals, organizations or businesses interested in becoming a secret pal can call Castro at (714) 738-3146.
