Afro-Cuban Instrument Collection on View

The City of Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art Museum is exhibiting “The Scholar and the Collector: Fernando Ortiz, Los Instrumentos de la Musica Afrocubana, and the Howard Family Collection of Percussion Instruments.”
The exhibit, continuing through Sept. 26, showcases Afro-Cuban musical traditions studied by the pioneering cultural anthropologist and ethnographer Ortiz and features instruments from Cuba, Africa and the African diaspora on loan from the L.A.-based Howard collection.
The museum is at 5814 Wilshire Blvd. and is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: (323) 937-4230.
