The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s contention that Yorba Linda’s Redevelopment Agency owes it millions of dollars from capital improvement projects will be denied at tonight’s City Council meeting and may end up being settled in court, Mayor John M. Gullixson said.
Supt. James O. Fleming said he wants to avoid litigation, but the district was forced to file a claim for damages last month because it has not been able to get a response to repeated requests for accounting documents about those projects. City Manager Arthur C. Simonian said Monday that the school district has not approached the city’s attorneys with any requests for such documents.
Earlier claims by the district say it may be underpaid by more than $2 million.
