Families interested in registering a child in the two-way Language Immersion Program at Las Palmas Elementary School are urged to pick up registration packets early because the district expects another long waiting list this year.
All kindergartners enrolled in the bilingual program at the public school, named one of the best in the state by the Department of Education, will become literate in English and Spanish by the sixth grade, officials said.
Proposition 227, which called for the end of bilingual education, does not affect Las Palmas. The school was granted a waiver in 1997. Information: (949) 492-3456.
