The City Council is reviewing whether it will make any adjustments to its $30.4-million fiscal year budget for 1998-99. During a study session Tuesday, the council reviewed the city staff’s recommendations. Among the suggestions is that the city continue not funding the Silverado Days Parade and the Fourth of July Fireworks Event.
In past years, the city paid for the street maintenance, police and other services for the parade and provided money for materials, entertainment, staff time and cleanup for the fireworks event. The parade cost the city $15,000 and the fireworks event, $23,000. The city stopped paying for both events in 1997.
The council could begin making decisions about budget adjustments as early as next month.
