Work begins today to stop the spread of an incurable tree disease among Canary Island date palms in the Capistrano Beach Palisades. About 71 of the palm trees have been identified as having fusarium wilt. Over the next six weeks, about 215 trees will be trimmed with hand saws, instead of chain saws, with the tools being sterilized between trees. Information: (949) 248-3596.
