After he learned of some local families in need, Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gus De La Torre was motivated to help them out. De La Torre organized the delivery of 65 gifts to about two dozen families who live within the Casa Capistrano neighborhood, a development off Del Obispo Street. Kids ranging in age from 6 months to 8 years received a gift, De La Torre said.
“You should have seen the big glossy eyes on those kids when they received a gift,” he said. “It was well worth it.”
De La Torre said community leaders located the families in need. The toys he delivered were additional toys from the Toys for Tots program.
