The 14-year-old youth arrested Tuesday after allegedly threatening to shoot down Ladera Vista Junior High School classmates was ordered Thursday by a juvenile court judge to remain in custody until his pre-trial hearing Jan. 14.
Proceedings were closed to the public because the teen is a juvenile. He has been charged with solicitation to commit felony assault.
Police say he had mapped out routes for attack and escape and was seeking accomplices to help arm him and carry out the attack. Students warned school officials he was talking openly of his plans and asking other students how he could obtain a gun.
In police interviews, the teen also referred to the shooters of the Littleton, Colo., massacre in April, saying he hoped to gain notoriety and attention.
School officials at Ladera Vista said the Fullerton school returned to normal Thursday, with fewer parents calling with concerns.
“I still have a few parents who call, but the school has really moved on,” said Principal Carolyn Millikin.
