Morgan Booth threw three touchdown passes, two to Kirk Herald, as Pasadena Poly won its first section title with a 21-14 victory against Arrowhead Christian at South Pasadena High.
Arrowhead Christian threatened to increase its 14-8 halftime driving to the Pasadena Poly seven late in the third quarter when Brian Hirschmann recovered Steve Avila’s fumble at the Panther 12.
Two plays later, Marshall Duncan turned a short pass into a 43-yard gain, putting the ball on the Eagle 41.
After Faisal Dittu ran for six of his 184 yards, Booth hit Herald with a 35-yard touchdown pass. David Stone’s conversion gave Pasadena Poly a 15-14 lead.
The Panthers (11-2) forced Arrowhead Christian (7-6) to punt on the ensuing possession. Pasadena Poly then drove 51 yards on seven plays, including Mike Caldwell’s 22 yards in two carries, culminating with Booth’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Ben Imhoff with 5:40 left.
Arrowhead Christian scored on its first possession, driving 73 yards on 11 plays, all runs. Steve Martinez ran the final four yards for the touchdown.
