The notion that Bobby Beathard is off his rocker has been creeping into my thinking for the last few years. In light of his handling of personnel, how could it not? However, after reading about the grievance-contract extension business with Ryan Leaf, I almost fell off my chair.
Extend his contract? Hello! It’s pretty obvious that man-child Ryan Leaf will never be able to compete at this level. Leaf, about as far away from a Peyton Manning as he could be, has found his pot of gold, and it’s all over for him.
As for Bobby Beathard and every dumb GM who hands out $11 million irrevocable dollars to a raw “prospect,” I have no sympathy whatsoever.
