NEWS, TIPS & BARGAINS : Paris Headed for Vegas Opening This Week

Will the Paris Las Vegas Casino Resort debut, fully open, on its appointed day, this Wednesday? “Mais oui,” spokesman Andy Maiden insisted last week.
The Strip development that vows to buck a recent trend of tardy Vegas resorts follows in the faux-city footsteps of New York, New York and the Venetian. It promises to re-create the City of Light, with a half-scale model of the Eiffel Tower, downsized facades of the Paris Opera House and the Louvre, and eight French restaurants (including one atop the mini-Eiffel). There are 2,916 rooms, a casino, spa and pool. However, the 1,200-seat live theater will be open only intermittently until January, Maiden added. Room rates start at $129. Tel. (888) 266-5687.
