Three pedestrians were injured Friday when two cars crashed and skidded onto a sidewalk at a Huntington Beach intersection. The drivers of the two vehicles also were injured.
Police said Matthew Debate, 22, of Huntington Beach was driving a Nissan Sentra north on Newland Street when his vehicle collided with a 1967 Plymouth traveling west on Atlanta Avenue and driven by Ryan Donegan, 18, of Westminster.
Investigators were still trying to determine late Friday what caused the accident, which happened about 1:09 p.m.
Authorities said Debate was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of internal injuries and Donegan was at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana for treatment of head injuries.
Pedestrians Rachael Crooks, 15, and Danielle Taylor, 14, both suffered leg injuries, and pedestrian Natalie DeLeon, 14, complained of back pain, police said. The three, all Huntington Beach residents, were admitted to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach.
