The City Council on Tuesday spent almost three hours discussing a development plan for the Treasure Island resort project. Some residents objected to the city’s financial commitment and the potential for diminished ocean views along South Coast Highway. The Planning Commission had approved a plan last week requiring the developer to build and open the resort hotel before the city would put up $3 million to $4 million for the construction of a parking lot for the project. The council will continue the discussion at a special meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 in chambers, 505 Forest Ave. Information: (949) 497-0329.
