A Van Nuys man who allegedly shot a former friend to death during an argument over money was arraigned Friday at Van Nuys Municipal Court on a murder charge, officials said.
John Schuller, 26, is accused of shooting John Talavera, 26, of Sun Valley, Wednesday night.
The men had been arguing over money that Schuller owed Talavera when shots were fired, police said. The pair had apparently been friends before the dispute, officers said.
Police also said Talavera’s mother, Aurea Talavera, 60, died of a heart attack Thursday night at a local hospital after learning of her son’s death, said Det. Stephen Fisk of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division.
