In the Orange Empire Conference women’s track and field finals:
OCC wins women’s title--The Pirates, who have won the last two state cross-country titles, dominated in the distance races and won the meet with 202 points. OCC’s Zoila Gomez won the 5,000 meters in 19 minutes 17.60 seconds and the 1,500 in 5:04.77. Orange Coast took the top seven places in the 5,000 for a total of 38 points and scored 33 in the 3,000 that was won by OCC’s Bernenice Carbajal in 10:48.47.
In the Orange Empire Conference men’s track and field finals:
Hinds, Vandroves set records--Fullerton’s Gregory Hinds won the 400 hurdles in a meet record 52.05 and OCC’s Travis Vandroves set a meet record in pole vault at 17 feet.
Riverside finished first with 185 points and Golden West was second at 137.
In Orange Empire Conference baseball:
Saddleback 7, Fullerton 5--Josh Arhart was three for four with an RBI to lead host Saddleback (27-11, 12-7), which is tied for first with Riverside, which beat Santa Ana, 13-7.
