Mark Swed wrote a beautiful article about the Monday Evening Concerts (“Some Enchanted Evenings,” April 11).
I first read about the concerts in a music history text in the mid-’80s while a student at Cal State Dominguez Hills. At that time I was amazed to learn that that these concerts were still active, and curiosity took me to one. Since then the concerts have remained a mainstay of my life. I consider myself, and this city, richer from the Monday Evening Concerts.
I have also gotten to know the MEC staff these Monday nights at LACMA, and the cordiality of the past is still there today.
