Kenney Selected by Servite to Take Over Basketball Team

Servite High has selected Brian Kenney as its boys’ basketball coach, Athletic Director Larry Walker said Friday.
Kenney, 28, served as assistant coach the past two seasons at Servite under Scott Hamilton, who was fired last month.
Kenney, who played basketball for and graduated from Servite in 1988, also played at Cypress College and Chapman.
He has served as a varsity assistant and junior varsity coach at Santa Margarita High in 1994 and was an assistant at Westmont College in 1995.

UC Irvine’s Christy Villa was named to the second-team GTE Academic All-American fall/winter at-large team.
Villa earned All-America honors, won the Big West Conference cross-country championship and was the conference’s female scholar-athlete of the year last season.

Angel Darin Erstad will participate in ceremonies today to rededicate the Little League baseball field at Orchard Dale School in Whittier as Darin Erstad Field.
Erstad donated $50,000 for renovations of two baseball fields. Ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. Orchard Dale is located at 10625 South Cole Rd.
