The City Council recently approved a five-year lease agreement to acquire a more advanced City Hall telephone system that will give city employees more sophisticated voice mail capabilities. The lease with Lucent Technologies for $1,994 per month will allow the city to replace its 10-year-old phone system with a digital one that will allow callers to dial one number to reach anyone in city government, from the Police Department to City Hall.
