Red fire ants have arrived in Southern California, establishing colonies in Orange County and portions of Los Angeles and Riverside counties. The California Department of Food and Agriculture has established a hotline to provide information about fire ants and to take reports of sightings. Callers to the hotline at (800) 491-1899 can also receive a brochure on fire ants in California. Additional information is available on the Internet at https://www.cdfa.ca.gov.
