Parents seeking ways to keep their children busy can drop them off daily at “Club Los Alamitos,” one of the city’s free park programs. The program, which does not require registration and is open to walk-ins, includes sports, games and daily “surprises” for children 5 to 14 years old. Two recreation officials supervise each session.
The program runs from 3 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Little Cottonwood Park, at Farquhar Avenue and Bloomfield Street. The activities move to Labourdette Park, at 4401 Howard Ave., from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Information: Recreation & Community Services Department, (562) 430-1073.
