Girlfriend Fatally Stabbed Herself, Slaying Suspect Says

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing his girlfriend to death as they drove along the Antelope Valley Freeway on Sunday.

The suspect says his girlfriend stabbed herself, hara-kiri style, deputies said.

Ricardo Roacho, 39, of Paramount, parked outside the Powerhouse Gym at 42212 10th Street W. about 5:15 p.m. and waved people over to his pickup truck, where witnesses saw a female passenger with a stab wound, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.

“[Roacho] says she stabbed herself, and she claimed that he stabbed her because she had seen an old boyfriend recently,” said Lt. R. David Dietrich. “At this point we don’t know the truth of the matter, but we’re leaning toward her version.”

Dolores Lometi, 37, also of Paramount, gave statements to doctors and paramedics at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills before dying at 11:30 Sunday night, Dietrich said.

“She gave minimal statements and they were in Spanish,” he said. “So we’re trying to figure out what she said.”

In the truck deputies recovered a knife which they say may have been used in the stabbing.
