Rapturous Rafting

Having read the many articles in The Times about the dangerous white-water rafting conditions this year, I was naturally concerned about the trip I had booked (with the company OARS in Angels Camp, Calif., tel. [800] 346-6277) for our family in August. We just returned, and we had a fabulous time! Although the water level was higher than in previous years, I did not notice the difference. We also stayed at a wonderful B&B; in Georgetown, the American River Inn, (800) 245-6566. It’s really fun to see ‘90s kids playing croquet and taking baths in a claw-footed tub!
