After years of financial hand-wringing, Club Med has begun a $350-million, three-year plan to upgrade its resorts worldwide, including all its villages in the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean, Bahamas and French Polynesia.
Several resorts will be closed for renovations. Club Med Sandpiper in Florida closes today through Nov. 20; Club Med Paradise Island in the Bahamas is expected to be closed until Nov. 20; Club Med St. Lucia will be closed until Dec. 19; and Club Med Cancun in Mexico reopened earlier this month. In another change, Club Med Playa Blanca in Mexico will open Oct. 2, a month earlier than usual. Information: tel. (800) CLUBMED.
