Monroe 42, Hoover 27--Andrew Newchurch rushed for 118 yards in six carries, including 64 yards on a botched punt, for the Vikings at Monroe.
DeAndre Phillips scored three touchdowns, two on runs of 15 and three yards and on a five-yard pass from quarterback Diego Barba.
David Brooks’ 70-yard kickoff return broke a 13-13 tie in the second quarter and gave Monroe the lead for good.
Hoover’s Jason Young rushed for 221 yards in 29 carries and one touchdown.
