Albright Renews Citizenship Oath

The Czech refugee who grew up to be the first female U.S. secretary of State celebrated 50 years in the country by renewing her citizenship oath in Washington, D.C., and warning against excluding immigrants. Along with 85 other people from nearly three dozen countries, Madeleine Albright renounced allegiance “to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereign” and vowed to “support and defend the Constitution.” Albright, the highest ranking woman in the government, first took that oath in 1957.
