City May Put Brakes on Anned Shortcut

To discourage motorists from using Anned Drive as a shortcut between Chapman and Bradford avenues, the City Council today will discuss building an island to restrict turns in the area.
Residents want turning restrictions because motorists use the residential street to avoid delays at the Chapman and Bradford intersection.
A majority of Anned residents support building a concrete island, which would prevent motorists on Chapman from turning onto Anned. For drivers exiting Anned onto Chapman, the island would permit only right-hand turns.
A traffic count on Anned showed that most drivers were high school students or parents taking their children to nearby Valencia High School.
The council will discuss building the concrete island at a 5:45 p.m. study session and consider the proposal at the 7:30 p.m. meeting. The meeting will be in the council chambers, 401 E. Chapman Ave. Information: (714) 993-8231.
