BURBANK — A 21-year-old Burbank man was in critical condition at a hospital after being shot in the head during a gang-related fight at the Buena Vista Motel early Sunday, police said.
Burbank Police Lt. Don Brown said at least two gangs--with some members as young as 14--had rented rooms at the motel for a night of partying.
Police suspect the shooting occurred when an argument between gang rivals escalated. They had not determined what set off the confrontation.
The victim, Vincente Gonzalez, remained on life support Sunday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
No other injuries were reported in the confrontation, which occurred shortly after midnight at 2255 N. Buena Vista St.
No arrests were made.
Burbank police are asking witnesses or others with information to call Det. Carl Costanzo at (818) 238-3247 or Lt. Brown at (818) 238-3241.
