3 Serbian Policemen Killed in Kosovo

Three Serbian policemen were killed in fighting and four policemen are being held by militants of Kosovo Albanians’ separatist army, Serbian and Albanian sources said. The Kosovo Information Center, close to the ethnic Albanians’ political leaders, said the three policemen were killed in fighting in the Decani area of western Kosovo province bordering Albania. Serbian forces launched an offensive there three weeks ago apparently aimed at clearing out Albanian villages the Serbs believe harbor militants of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Police Col. Bozidar Filic confirmed that four policemen had been kidnapped by the rebels in three separate incidents in the past three weeks in western Kosovo.
