Three Placentia police officers suffered minor injuries when an alleged drunk driver fought off attempts to arrest him, officials said Sunday.
Several officers had been summoned about 3:30 a.m. Saturday to a report of a reckless driver in the 1300 block of East Orangethorpe Avenue in Placentia, a police spokesman said.
As the officers completed the traffic stop, the driver allegedly reversed his car and rammed a police car before leading police on a pursuit, authorities said.
The car struck police cars three more times before the chase ended at Richfield Road and Plum Tree Lane in Yorba Linda, where the driver allegedly fought with the officers, the police spokesman said.
The officers were treated at an area hospital and released.
The suspect was identified as Justin David Ferguson, 20, of Anaheim Hills. He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers, felony drunk driving, evading police and hit and run.
