Stanford, USC Split Doubleheader

Stanford and USC split a double-header on Sunday, as the Cardinal won the first game, 7-6, behind the pitching of Chad Hutchinson and the Trojans won the second, 7-4, on the strength of three home runs.
Stanford (27-5-1, 12-3 in the Pacific-10 Conference) won two of three in the weekend series at Dedeaux Field to stay atop the conference’s Southern Division. USC (28-8, 14-4), ended an eight-game losing streak to Stanford with its victory.
Jeremy Freitas and Robb Gorr each hit a two-run home run andJason Lane hit a solo homer to give USC a 7-3 advantage in the second game. Lane (4-0) also earned the victory, giving up one run and three hits in 3 2/3 innings of relief. Jack Krawczyk came on in the ninth to earn his 14th save.
