The Launch Pad, a nonprofit learning center in Crystal Court, will host Mad Scientist Jim Blackie, a performer who uses comedic techniques to teach children about science.
Blackie plans to let children grasp slime, view color-changing chemicals, learn about dry ice and taste liquid nitrogen ice cream. Children also will make their own putty.
The event is part of an ongoing education and entertainment series at the Launch Pad, which is the preview facility of the Discovery Science Center, set to open in 1998.
Performance times are 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Oct. 25-26. Make reservations by Oct. 21.
The Launch Pad is on the third floor of Crystal Court, 3333 Bear St.
