Kariya Expected on Team Canada

Paul Kariya is expected to join Team Canada for workouts as early as next week if he remains unsigned by the Ducks, his agent said Tuesday.
“I expect it to happen pretty fast,” said Don Baizley. “It’s a work in progress. One of the things the Olympic team is concerned about would be having Paul game-ready. [If he’s not soon signed by the Ducks] one of the most obvious options is to join the Canadian national team.”
The Canadian Olympic team will be announced Saturday and indications are that Kariya will be selected, despite his status as an unsigned restricted free agent.
Baizley said talks with the Ducks remain stalled. Duck General Manager Jack Ferreira was unavailable for comment.
